    Indoor decorating… differently

Animals Galore Animals are an integral part of our lives. They are pets, some people raise them, and most of the world relies on them for nourishment. We added some amazing animal pieces to our collection of polyresins to commemorate their importance. With several county, 4-H, and state fairs happening during the summer months, our new cow bench and pig chair could be a fantastic addition to your booth if you are a vendor. They would also make great gifts for 4-H participants who spend hours and hours raising, grooming, and proudly showing their animals! Our cow bench, standing (well,…

    Already planning for this season

Are you ready for the 2010 holiday season? I know I’m excited and it’s only a month until I start decorating the inside of our home. Besides, here in Texas it has been too darn hot to work outside. We’ve been at 99 or higher since May and humidity-temps have been well over 105 for weeks. I have been reworking many of my frames but in the comfort of the cool air conditioning. As usual, I have been on the hunt for additions to the display this year and have been pretty successful. I found several new animated figures from…

    Another open house success

Our first open house was on December 5, 2009. We normally open the doors at 6:30 in the evening. My youngest grandson and I were taking care of some finishing touches on the garage diorama and he wanted something from out front so I did a quick jaunt through the house, out the front door and bumped right into a gentleman standing on the front step. When I looked past him there was a line of people all the way down to the corner, a block and a half away. After recovering from shock since I didn’t expect anyone to…

    Indoor displays

It has been slow going this year setting up everything for our six open houses in December. There have been lots of new things to add, old things to repair, unloading and unpacking, thousands of trips up and down the ladder to reach everything on those darn top shelves and hundreds of trips up and down the stairs with my bad knees. Running cords to the lights, music boxes and animation is always a major chore, especially since you can’t have any of those ugly wires showing. It has been lots of hard work but it’s my obsession and I…

    Indoor decorating

Let’s pick up from last month. You’ve got your theme and have decided where and what to do with your tree. What’s next? Gather your Christmas goodies, be it Santa, snowman, angels, country, modern or whatever and start decorating. You don’t have to have tons of everything to make your home look great during the holidays. Do your tree, hang some pine bough around the doors, add lights, some bows, floral picks, ornaments, whatever suits you. It’s your indoor display so make sure you do something you like. Remember the rule of three. Always decorate with odd numbers of items,…
